New Job
This new job of mine has me putting in tons of overtime with nights and weekends, and I don't even get to take very many breaks. If I do get a break, I am usually scrambling to eat something, get a shower, or use the toilet. If all those necessities are taken care of, I can check my e-mail, make a quick phone call, and maybe, just maybe, think about writing a post! I heard something a while ago about how much money a stay-at-home mom would make for all her hours on the job if she were just paid minimum wage. I can't remember the amount, but it was somewhere around $150,000 a year. Brian told me today, though, that I can't spend my wages! I'll just have to think of it as a long-term investment :)
Fiona is doing pretty well. Still eating and growing a lot. Her biggest trial of late is gas. It's pretty awful to hear her crying. We have some tricks to help relieve it, but mainly she just has to get it out of her tummy and it can take awhile. One of my fears has been that my children would inherit my less than perfect bowels. I don't know that this is a sign of trouble to come since Fiona's gas comes from air bubbles and not something she's eating. Still, I feel her pain and it makes me so sad. Hopefully she will outgrow it soon. I read that if I drink fennel tea, that can help relieve gas for both of us, so we'll be looking for some of that today! It's worth a try.
Brian is going back to work tomorrow, and me and Fiona are making our first trip to Battle Ground! She is really excited to meet the chickens at Nana and Papa's house. We picked up our cloth diapers yesterday and have to wash them 5 or 6 times before the cotton will be absorbant. It would be really hard for me to manage doing that in our building, so Nana is going to help us at her house. Fiona can't wait to show off her cute little buns in her new nappies! Next week will be our first week without Dad at home, so Fiona and I invited people to visit us and we've got every day of the week covered now with someone coming to help us and keep us company. Then my mom is coming to be with us the week after. By then, we'll be at Fiona's one month birthday, and I think we'll be doing much better on our own.
Fiona doesn't usually sleep on the couch, but I had to get her posed in her new outfit from her grandmother. It was the first time she wore real little girl clothes and she was irresistable in them! I love her little bumble bee bun!
